As Rétromobile’s official auction partner, renowned auction house Artcurial curated an impressive lineup of over 200 lots. A particular standout result was that of a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB long-nose which achieved an impressive sale price. This exquisite berlinetta, originally delivered in France through Franco Britannic Autos Ltd., has a rich history and underwent a meticulous restoration by our team of craftspeople at Bacchelli & Villa in 2015.

Finished in its original color of Celeste Metallizzato, Chassis no. 8407 boasts a remarkable provenance. Delivered new on April 19, 1966, it was first owned by M. Caillas of Paris and maintained by Ferrari's Assistenza Clienti in Modena early in its life. The car remained under the care of a single owner from 1972 until its 2015 sale, making it an exceptionally well-preserved example. After acquiring the car at the 2015 Rétromobile auction in its unrestored condition, a Belgian Ferrari connoisseur embarked on a two-year restoration journey with Bacchelli & Villa to return the berlinetta to its former glory.

The restoration process of 8407 was extensive, beginning with water blasting to completely strip the car of its previous paint. The craftsmanship involved in bringing this classic back to its original splendor included fabricating a new front end, rebuilding the sills, and refabricating the doors. The mechanical aspects of the car were entrusted to Belgian specialists Gipimotor, ensuring that the Ferrari retained its original matching-numbers engine, gearbox, and differential—key factors in its desirability among collectors. The meticulous process resulted in the car receiving Ferrari Classiche certification, a testament to its authenticity and quality.

The sale reaffirms the enduring allure of the Ferrari 275 GTB, a true icon of automotive history.
