This year marked Ferrari’s 70th anniversary in America and Monterey Car Week provided the perfect stage to celebrate this remarkable milestone. A series of special events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the first official Ferrari dealership in the United States were hosted along the First Fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links®. Beginning with a Friday evening cocktail party, all eyes were on the 12Cilindri as it was prominently displayed at this year’s event. There is one thing that gets fans of the Prancing Horse more excited than anything else: the V12 – the engine used in Ferrari’s Gran Turismo cars ever since 1947. Right from its name, the new mid-front-engined car from the Prancing Horse pays tribute to Ferrari’s legendary motor.
The annual Ferrari Procession concluded at Casa Ferrari and Concorso Ferrari where a 70-car display illustrated the marques legacy with the finest examples of their road and race cars. Among the display were several historically significant cars including the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spider, named for Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team (NART); a 1950 166 MM Touring Barchetta Lusso, originally owned and raced by Scuderia Ferrari, winning the 12 Hours of Paris with Chinetti and Jean Lucas at the wheel; and a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM.
As the annual Car Week festivities drew to a close, celebrating Ferrari’s 70th anniversary in America left a thrilling sense of anticipation for what’s next.
