Few automotive experiences embody the romance of historic racing quite like the Targa Florio. This October, Ferrari Beverly Hills client and Scuderia Corsa driver Joe Sposato brought that legacy to life on the island of Sicily, taking part in the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio 2025 behind the wheel of his Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.

The journey began in Palermo, where the city’s marina transformed into a sea of red for scrutineering and the opening ceremonies. From the elegant welcome dinner at Villa Tasca to the vibrant send-off in Piazza Verdi, the atmosphere blended classic Italian charm with unmistakable Ferrari spirit. The first leg on Friday, October 17, traced the island’s western coast toward Marsala, where participants paused for a scenic lunch at Cantine Florio, one of Sicily’s oldest wineries. Returning to Palermo by evening, guests gathered at Citysea, Palermo Marina Yachting, for a relaxed dinner overlooking the water. The following day’s route carried drivers inland to Campofelice, with lunch at Grand Palladium Resort, before culminating in a grand finale dinner at Palazzo dei Normanni—a fitting stage for the rally’s closing celebration.

Throughout the event, Sposato and his co-driver embraced the essence of the Targa Florio: spirited driving, camaraderie, and connection to a century-old racing tradition. Upon completing the rally, Sposato reflected, “The mountain roads of Sicily are amazing. The villages along the route welcomed us with cheering and food gifts.  The sound of Ferrari air horns echoed off the buildings.  Crowds waved Ferrari flags enthusiastically. An experience of a lifetime.  And yes many times we were driving quite briskly. Sicily is wonderful."

First run in 1906, the Targa Florio stands among the oldest and most storied races in the world. Conceived by Sicilian visionary Vincenzo Florio, it tested both driver skill and mechanical endurance across the island’s dramatic terrain. Ferrari’s own history is deeply intertwined with that legacy—claiming seven victories during the 1950s and 60s, a period that cemented the marque’s dominance in endurance racing.

Today, the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio continues to honor that heritage, inviting owners to relive the challenge and beauty of those original routes. For enthusiasts like Joe Sposato, it is more than a rally, it is a journey through the heart of Ferrari’s racing soul.
